According to Spanish outlet La Porteria, and relayed by Journalist Joan Vehils, described a 'close' to club president Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona have made a final attempt to keep Messi there

According to the programme La Porteria on betevé, the FC Barcelona CEO, Ferran Reverter, called the player's father and agent, Jorge Messi, early on Tuesday to make him a new proposal to keep the forward at the Camp Nou, reports AS.

The news broke around two o'clock in the morning, and as yet we’ve not been able to confirm or deny this information. But the report stated that certain members in the Barça hierarchy do not believe the final nail into the exit coffin has yet been hammered in.

This apparent new offer comes at a time when everything else points towards Paris, with news coming to us that Messi will put pen to paper later this morning to join PSG. For this reason, there is little confidence that if this last-gasp bid was made it will work, but with this current Barcelona management, we’re rarely able to absolutely rule anything out.

According to Spanish outlet La Porteria, and relayed by Journalist Joan Vehils, described a 'close' to club president Joan Laporta, the club have made a final attempt to keep him there.

The report says that the offer was made following the teary farewell press conference and the option is not 'completely closed,' with CEO Ferran Reverter said to be negotiating.

As well as trying to re-sign their captain, Barca are apparently trying to block the Ligue 1 giants from signing the Argentina superstar another way, reports Sports Bible.

Claims in Spain state that the Catalans have filed a complaint to the European Court of Appeal over the finances involved, and the Ligue 1 giants' ability to afford the player.

There is one rule PSG are hoping to break if they sign the 34-year-old, and that's to make him number 30 in their squad.

Initially it was claimed he would take the number 19 shirt but now it looks like it'll be his first Barca number, 30, but at the moment in Ligue 1 that's supposed to be for goalkeepers.
