Winless Bangladesh hockey team return from Europe

Following their three-week tour of Europe where they played a total eight warm-up matches, Bangladesh team returned to Dhaka on Tuesday ahead of the fifth edition of the Asian Hockey Federation Cup this month. Under the guidance of German head coach Oliver Kurtz, Bangladesh played five practice matches in Poland and three in Austria among which they failed to manage a single win. Bangladesh conceded a 1-0 defeat against Poland, who are positioned 13 places above the men in red and green in the world rankings. Bangladesh then played out a 2-2 draw before going on to draw two matches against Poland Under-21 team. In Austria, they managed a 3-3 draw against the U-21 team before conceding two defeats of 4-0 and 2-1 in the last two matches. The tour was part of the national team's preparation camp for the upcoming AHF Cup, scheduled to be held from November 19-27 in Hong Kong. The players will enjoy a five-day break before resuming their final preparation camp at BKSP from this Monday under the supervision of Kurtz, who is likely to arrive this Sunday.
