Abahani, Mohammedan win big

The Super Five of the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League began Friday at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka as giants Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited registered victories in their respective matches.

Abahani thumped Sonali Bank 4-0, Sohanur Rahman Sabuj bagging a brace and Mohammad Mohsin and Tajuddin Ahmed netting once each.

Mohammedan meanwhile, thrashed Ajax 5-1, Gurjinder Singh leading the way with a treble.

Arbinder Singh and Nasir Hossain netted once each for the Black and Whites.

Ajax’s consolation goal was scored by Lakshinder Singh.

In Saturday's games at the same venue, Abahani will take on Ajax while reigning champion Mariner Youngs Club will lock horns with Sonali Bank.
