Hockey stars Jimmy, Shitul receive offer to play in Malaysia

Bangladesh hockey team forward Russel Mahmud Jimmy and defender Farhad Ahmed Shitul have received the opportunity to feature for Malaysian top-flight outfit Universiti Teknologi Mara. The league got underway Thursday and will conclude on March 2 this year.

Former Bangladesh head coach Gobinathan Krishnamurthy, a Malaysian citizen, created the opportunity for his ex-charges to take part in the league.

To add to that, Shitul and defender Ashraful Islam have received the green signal from Bangladesh Hockey Federation to play in the Pakistan Franchise League from January 11-19.

However, the national duo, who work for Bangladesh Navy, are yet to receive the clearance from their organisation.
