The Blazer BD-BKSP 3rd South Asian Archery Championship officially got inaugurated in Savar's BKSP Saturday afternoon as archers from five participating countries arrived in Dhaka and had their official practice session on the same day.
The qualification round of the event will begin Sunday.
Bangladesh's 16-member squad has two archers who never participated in any international tournament before.
Compound men's team's Raton Mia, who won silver in the last national event, and Soma Biswas of the women's compound side will taste their first international experience during the event.
The duo caught the attention of national team's German head coach Martin Frederick during a trial last week.
Archery coach Ziaul Haque said, "The coach (Frederick) will be closely observing the team. He is trying to find out the weaknesses of the archers. He will get better insight about our archers through the South Asian Championship and make the future plan accordingly."
