The Bangladesh baseball team will take part in their first ever international tournament when the ABFIP Presidential Cup Tournament gets underway Sunday in Guwahati, Assam, India. The eight-nation tournament has been organised by Amateur Baseball Federation of India.
The eight teams – host India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Bhutan and Bangladesh – have been divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The 28-member Bangladesh contingent, comprising 19 players and nine officials, left for Assam Friday. It should be mentioned that ever since the game of baseball was introduced in Bangladesh in 2006, the country has not taken part in any international tournament.
