Kyrgyzstan set up a semi-final clash with host Bangladesh after beating Uzbekistan by 3-2 sets in the Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur Tuesday.
Kyrgyzstan won the opening set by 25-18 points before Uzbekistan came back strong in the second and third set, winning by 26-24 and 25-19 points.
Kyrgyzstan however, scripted a brilliant comeback in the fourth and fifth set, turning out victorious by 25-18 and 15-13 points.
Kyrgyzstan’s Musev was adjudged most valuable player.
Bangladesh Volleyball Federation general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku was present among others during the fourth day of the tournament’s second edition, Bangladesh winning the inaugural edition two years ago.
Kyrgyzstan will now take on Bangladesh Wednesday in the last four at 5pm.
In the other semi-final, Turkmenistan will face Nepal.
