Bangladesh claimed two bronze medals at the Asian Vovinam Championship Monday in Bali, Indonesia.
In the -82kg category, Ariful Islam of Bangladesh lost to an Afghanistan opponent in the semi-final, and subsequently won a bronze.
Ariful had defeated a Laos opponent in the quarter-final.
In the -77kg category, Abu Masud Chowdhury also lost to an Iranian opponent in the last four to clinch the bronze.
Masud had defeated a Cambodian opponent in the last eight.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh coach Salman L Rahman was rewarded as a judge by the Asian Vovinam while Bangladesh Vovinam Association president Dildar Hasan Dilu was nominated as a honourary advisor in the central zone of kick boxing China.
A total of 16 countries – Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Taiwan and Japan – are taking part in the tournament.
