Top national archer Ruman Shana could not advance passed the third round in the 21st Asian Archery Championship 2019, losing to Thai archer Tanapat Pathairat by 6-2 sets in the recurve individual event in Bangkok, Thailand Monday.
Ruman, the only athlete from Bangladesh to directly qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, earlier defeated Philippine archer Floarante Matan in the second round on the same day.
Other recurve archers Mohammad Tamimul Islam and Hakim Ahmed Rubel have also seen the exit door in the third round, losing to Talukdar Jayanta (6-5 sets) and Chinese archer Shi Zhenqi (6-2 sets), respectively.

In the recurve women’s individual events, Nasrin Akter, Beauty Roy, Ity Khatun and Mehnaz AKter Monira lost their respective games in the 1/24 elimination round.
Md Sohel Rana and Asim Kumar Das were eliminated in the second round of the men’s compound elimination round, while Shyamoli Roy and Sushmita Banik were also eliminated from the same round. The compound mixed team of Asim and Sushmita managed to reach the quarterfinals but lost to Korea in the last-eight.
