The Wimbledon Championships take place in London, England. Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam where seedings do not follow the world rankings, instead taking into account players’ previous performances on grass. Hence seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams is seeded this year, in 25th place, despite her world ranking having fallen to 183 during time off to have her first child.
