The Bangabandhu app, a mobile phone application on the life and works of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be placed for the government’s approval for making it available on Facebook chatbot.
An Android version of the app was made available for the users in Google Play store on August 15, 2014, by MCC Ltd, the firm that developed the app. MCC has also developed the iOS version of the app but it has yet to get nod from the Apple authorities to make it available on their platform.
Ashraf Khan, managing director of MCC Ltd, told the Dhaka Tribune that they have been planning to introduce it in Facebook messenger considering the increased engagement of young generation with the Facebook.
“We will submit a proposal to the ICT Division in the end of this month for government’s approval to instate the app in chatbot,” added Ashraf.
The developer company has been updating the app with some new photos while Bangabandhu's “Oshamapto Attojiboni (The Unfinished Memoirs)” will be embedded in the app as a book.
It also contains information on Bangabandhu's early life, his roles in political movements prior to the Liberation War, speeches, personal letters, interviews and others. The app has a photo gallery containing 113 rare pictures. Based on Bangabandhu's life, the app contains audio and video contents on different events of his life, as well as songs and quizzes. Results of the quizzes can be shared on Facebook.
He also urged the people, those who got a rare collection of Bangabandhu’s photo, to share documents with his firm.
Ashraf Khan said the app has been downloaded at least 86,166 times since it was launched three years ago. The software firm is working under direct supervision of the ICT Division, he added.
