How can Bangladeshi users operate a PayPal account?

PayPal is best known for its fast and secured process of transferring money online, replacing traditional paper methods like checks and money orders.

However, Bangladeshi users are only able to receive their earnings through PayPal, which means there are some limitations in using the service in the country.

Prime Minister’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurated PayPal in Bangladesh on Thursday.

According to the government’s ICT Division, Bangladeshi users can accept money in its currency through an easier process. Any user can login to his/her account by clicking www.paypal.com.

To receive payments the user needs to choose “Send & Request” option following the login window. Inputting the amount of money, he/she needs to select “Send to Friends & Family Internationally” in order to choose the country or region of the receiver.

The user can select the country to make an advance to on “Deposit to a Bank Account”. Entering the amount, selecting the bank’s name, and completing the necessary bank and recipient information, the user can request for authorisation to complete the transaction. According to the ICT Division, to send less than $1,000 the user will charged $4.99. The user will not be charged any amount if the transaction is above $1,000.
