The new interface has been the default version since May
Social media giant Facebook has decided to discontinue their desktop version of ‘Facebook Classic’ interface from September.
In 2019, the developers of Facebook unveiled their new interface dubbed as ‘FB5,’ which has been in a trial run since then for the users.
However, Facebook now decided that they will drop their ‘classic’ desktop interface and only continue with their new one from next month, Engadget reports.
The new interface has been the default version since May this year but users could opt out and return to the classic version.
A notification on the page and support pages that told users how to switch back now indicate that the ‘Classic Facebook’ is going away in September, and taking its old blue theme with it.
The designers and developers of the company said the old interface “feels clunky and chaotic” in 2020, with cramped sidebars that bury new features such as Watch and Facebook Gaming.
So they decided to introduce the new interface that will have more similarity to their mobile version.
