I love my 'romantic hero' image: Apurbo

Update : 28 Apr 2013, 04:09 AM

Ziaul Faruq Apurbo came to the limelight after winning You Got The Look’s “Mr Bangladesh” title in 2002. Subsequently he appeared in a few TV commercials and achieved huge acclaims. His debuted as an actor in a mega-serial named “Bou+Boi=Boibahik,” directed by Gazi Rakayat. Now he is one of the most popular TV actors in the country.

The talented actor recently talked to Dhaka Tribune about his career, vision and future plans. What are you working on at present?

I am working around the clock these days, my current projects are several mega serials, single-episode plays and tele-films. It has been quite difficult for me to take a single weekend off.

How did you acquire your romantic hero image?

It all started with my role in the mega-serial “Romizer Ayna” directed by Shihab Shahin. All of a sudden people started calling me a romantic hero. My character in the serial was an anti-hero in the beginning who later turns loyal towards his beloved.

Do you want to break the image?

I don’t want to plan anything ahead, I accept everything life throws at me and I love my romantic hero image. I believe it is really difficult to establish any image in the present unstable scenario, moreover my fans love to watch me in this regard.

On the other hand, I enjoy different dimensions in the characters I play, I am always looking for roles that are original, unique and will entertain my fans.

What do you think about working in films?

I haven’t thought about it yet. Few years back I started shooting for a film, but the film was stopped in the middle for some unavoidable reason. I want everything to be perfect when I work on a film, from script to co-artists, if I get an offer like that, I would love to work in the silver screen.
