Though the Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League has yet to officially finish, the fight for signing star players for next season has already begun – and after a record breaking season, Sheikh Russell’s players are prime targets. National skipper Mamunul Islam, who played a pivotal role in Sheikh Russell claiming the championship, and his teammates Linkon, and Mamun Miah have reportedly been contacted by Sheikh Jamal. National attacking duo Jahid Hossain and Zahid Hasan Emily, the spearheads of Russell, have been offered a large fee by Dhaka Mohammedan. Russell’s Haitian hitman Sony Norde is also a highly desired target. However the players remain tight lipped about their plans. Mamunul Islam said, “Nothing is final yet. If my current club responds to my demand, why would I change club? Let’s see what happens,” said the left foot specialist. Bangladesh Premier League will enter its seventh edition next season and the teams like Mohammedan and Jamal will be challenging Russell’s superiority. Mohammedan who are yet to win any professional league title is expected to form a strong team while Abahani and Jamal are also looking forward to arrive as the title contenders.
