Students and teachers of polytechnic institutes in the district of Chittagong brought out a procession in the port city yesterday as a part of their country-wide programme to press home their two-point demands.
They later submitted a memorandum to the president through Abdul Mannan, deputy commissioner of Chittagong.
The two-point demands are: removal of professional disparity with BSc engineers and implementation of two inter-ministry committees’ recommendations for removing their existing problems.
Under the banner of ‘Bangladesh Diploma Engineering Peshajibi Chhatra-Shikkhak Songram Parishad’ the students and teachers brought out the procession from the Shahid Minar at around 12:30pm which ended in front of DC’s office after parading through key intersections of the port city.
Earlier, they held a protest rally on the city’s Central Shahid Minar premises from around 10am to 12pm.
Mohammed Jalal Uddin Mollah, convener, Md Rahim Ullah, member secretary, and Md Hedayat Ullah, member of the organisation addressed the programmes among others.
