Wife kills husband in Chittagong

A businessman was allegedly killed by his wife at his residence in Chittagong city’s Bakalia area on Thursday over a family dispute. 

Police said the deceased was Aiyub Chowdhury, 51, a shoe trader, from Patiya upazila of the district.

AKM Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bakalia police station, said the wife, Hosne Ara Begum, fled the house after the incident. Since then, the police have been trying to apprehend her. The OC, quoting Tanjina Chowdhury the second daughter of the deceased, the couple were locked in a quarrel over family issues during the early hours of Thursday.

The OC said at one stage of the argument the couple got into a physical fight and Hosne Ara forcefully squeezed Aiyub’s testicles that caused his death.

Bakalia police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
