Copies of a Karwan Bazar Bangla daily Prothom Alo were not accepted at the official residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as well as her office, sources in the Ganabhaban said.

The authorities at Hasina’s residence did not let in any copy of the daily on its premises after newspaper publication resumed on Saturday following a three-day Eid holiday.

They said the decision would remain in force until further notice.

Ganabhaban officials said the same action would be taken at the secretariat as well as residences of the ministers.

The action came after the daily had allegedly taken stance against the government’s policies and did not reflect hopes and aspirations of the masses, officials told the Dhaka Tribune.

The Prime Minister’s Office observed that the newspaper’s editorial policies and the treatment of news had not been sensible.
