The National Board of Revenue (NBR) observes Value Added Tax (VAT) day across the country today for the fourth consecutive years. It also starts the VAT week simultaneously.
To celebrate the day, it would organise a number of programmes, including awarding the highest VAT paying companies for their outstanding contribution to the government’s exchequer in the financial year 2012-13. The day’s programme will begin through a rally that will start at 9am from the NBR headquarters at Shegunbagicha and will conclude at the National Press Club.
The NBR has also oraganised an opinion exchange meeting and award giving ceremony in the Rawa Convention Hall at Mohakhali where a total of 122 top VAT paying companies will be awarded with a crest and a certificate each.
Nine top VAT payers will be awarded at the national level while the rest will be awarded from the district level under three categories – production, services and business. Commerce Minister Tofael Ahmed will handover the awards as chief guest.
