At least seven people were killed and four others injured last night when a vegetable-laden truck skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch at Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj.
Inspector Asaduzzaman Miah, officer-in-charge of Rupganj police station, confirmed the incident and said they had recovered the bodies of the seven victims and rescued the four.
The OC said the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
He said the truck fell into a roadside ditch after it veered off into a roadside ditch as the driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle in Golakandail area on the Asian Highway around 11:30pm.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
“The truck was heading towards Chittagong from Naogaon”, the OC said.
