Third national debate contest to start at Rajshahi University

A two-day-long debate called Cute-BFDF 3rd National Debate Contest is going to start at Rajshahi University on Friday.

Business Studies Faculty Debating Forum (BFDF), the renowned student debating organisation on RU campus will organise the event with the support of Cute Cosmetics.

Ananda Sangker Ray Chowdhury, chief executive member of BFDF, announced the debate competition in a press conference at RU central cafeteria, where a marketing department assistant Professor Shah Azam, advisor of BFDF spoke, among others.

The competition will be inaugurated at 9am which will be graced by RU VC Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin as the chief guest and Pro-VC Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan as the special guest.

About 32 debating groups from the same number of public and private universities including Dhaka University, Chittagang University, Jahangirnagar University and Khulna University are expected to participate in the competition.

The first round, second round and quarterfinal debate will be held on the first day from 10am to 7pm at Shiraji Bhavan, Rabindra Bhavan, Rahmatunnesa Hall, Begum Rokeya Hall and Deans’ Complex conference room of RU.

On the second and the last day, a colorful procession will be brought out on the campus from in front of the Senate building of the university at 9am, where guests and participants will participate.

The semi final of the debate contest will be held from 12 noon to 2pm at Deans’ complex conference room while the final debate will be held at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium at 2.30pm on Saturday.

Later, at 4.30pm, a policy forum titled “Digital Bangladesh: Our Expectation and Experience” will be held at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium where Junaid Ahmed Polok MP, State Minister, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology will be present as the key speaker.

The two-day long debate contest will be concluded amid a cultural program followed by a  giving ceremony among the winners at 6pm at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium. The two day long function will remain open for the viewers and organisers.

English language daily newspaper Dhaka Tribune, news portal Banglanews24.com, Daily Kaler Kantha, Jamuna Television, local daily Sonar Desh and Rajshahi based community radio Padma are the media partners in the event.
