Three members of a family was injured after a series of crude bombs were blasted in Khalpar area of the capital’s Purbo Jurain yesterday morning.
The injured were Sumon Sarder, 42, and his nephews Imon Sarder, 18, and Rifat Sarder, 13. The incident occurred in front of their residential home in Khalpar of Purbo Jurain around 8:30am. Later, Sumon’s brother Nazmul, 22, brought the three to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Nazmul said: “A gang of 10-12 locals involved in drug business came to kidnap my father Ataur Rahman. When our relatives and local chased them they blasted crude bombs."
The injured Sumon said: “I was standing in front of my house when suddenly the eloping youths blasted 4-5 crude bombs.”
Family sources said Sumon and Imon had received splinters on the right leg and Rifat on his right cheek. Sumon was later sent to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor) as he was severely injured on his leg. OC of Kadomtoli police station said: “The incident might have occurred centring land related disputes. We are preparing to file a case in this regard.”
