5 killed, 6 injured in road accidents

Five people were killed and six others injured in road accidents in Pabna, Ahulia, and Gaibandha yesterday. 

Our Pabna correspondent reports that two people were killed and six others injured in a head-on collision between a human haulier and a pick-up van on Pabna-Dhaka highway in Sholabaria area of Santhia upazila. 

The deceased are Helal Uddin, 40, and Ramjan, 42. 

Police said the accident took place when the human hauler overturned after it collided head-on with a pick-up van carrying newspapers around 5:30am, killing its two passengers on the spot.

The injured were rushed to the Pabna Medical College Hospital.

Meanwhile,  two people were killed as a bus rammed into a human haulier in the Moraganga area in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital. 

The victims could not be identified immediately.

In Gaibandha, a man was killed in a road accident on Rangpur-Dhaka highway in the Choumatha area of the Palashbari upazila on Sunday, report our Gaibandha correspondent. 

The victim was Babu Mia, 35, an employee at a restaurant, and a resident of Durgapur village of the upazila.

Police said Babu was killed on the spot as a bus ran him over.

Police detained the bus. But its diver and his assistant managed to flee the spot.
