Swaying the toll on the school roll

Update : 04 May 2015, 11:46 AM

While many may have it easier, many also have to travel to school using the transport of the masses. Buses, CNGs and rickshaws may become the option at numerous moments, for which situations arise causing unprecedented scenarios. Here are a few tips and must-have’s when placed in similar circumstances when going to and coming from school.

Not dying before

Considering the drop-dead heat of the mornings and afternoons, bodily sweat is a frequent unwanted visitor. Not only does it ruin your uniform or attire when going to the venue, it even tires you before classes even begin. The mood to start the day fresh and energized leaks out by the time assembly is over. Hence, it may be helpful to carry a bottle of cold water and a small towel with you.

Tip to keep: When starting from home, wrap the towel around the cold water bottle. This helps keep the water cool longer while making the cold, wet towel feel like heaven on your face. Keep the towel inside the bag though; you don’t want to rub your dusty face with a dusty cloth.

Keeping you and your stuff safe

Well that part was not dying by yourself, but what happens when someone else gives an effort? Buses are breeding grounds for theft, and it helps to never show any valuable possessions when inside. After the first few times, a dangerous confidence begins to arise that nothing might happen to you. You got this, right? Nope. No one expects to be mugged or harmed, no matter how much of an expert they are.

Tip to keep: Pick the first seats of the bus, and keep an eye or hand on your pockets when entering or jumping off. In a CNG, insist on using main roads. You can be late to school once, but you’ll miss your iPhone every night.

Entering smart

As it may be deemed fashionable to enter late, the foul odour from your body may not be as well accepted. Let’s face it, you can’t help but sweat in this situation can you? But there is a remedy. Wear a T-shirt and carry a deodorant.

Tip to keep: If you’re a dude, wear the shirt right before you enter in a really hot day. Carrying two T-shirts to change halfway doesn’t hurt either.

If cats and dogs fell from the sky, it would actually be better than annoying cold, dirty water pouring on your ironed uniform. Check the weather on your phone or look out the window before you leave.

Tip to keep: A small umbrella tucked in your bag.
