The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) has distributed humanitarian assistance to 130 families affected in Nasirnagar attacks.
BDRCS, with support of the International Committee of the Red Cross, distributed one-month worth of assistance to the affected families on Sunday.
With the help of the assistance the victims will be able to cope with the situation and gradually restore their normal life, said a post on the Facebook page of BDRCS.
All the families received essential food and non-food items, while 79 of them were given Tk5,000 each to purchase other items and repair their damaged properties.
The distribution was made in collaboration with BDRCS Brahmanbaria Unit and in coordination with local administration.
More than 100 people were injured after a mob attacked and vandalised 17 temples and 58 houses belonging to Hindus over a Facebook post defaming Islam allegedly posted by a Hindu fisherman.
Nasirnagar police’s officer-in-charge and the UNO were subsequently transferred. The ruling Awami League suspended three of its local leaders for their involvement in the attacks.
