Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said: “The arrest was made during a drive from Jatrabari's Kazla late night on Monday.”
Police identified the detainees as Rashdur Rahman alias Sumon, 24, Shahidul Islam alias Shipan, 23, and Md Babul Howladher alias Hossain, 28.
CTTC officials said during the primary interrogation the detainees confessed that they were JMB militants and they had also been involved in several robberies in Dhaka.
Besides, they skilfully escaped the premises by utilising the explosives to cause public terror during the robberies.
The detainees also said they conducted the robberies in order to raise funds for the welfare of the banned militant outfit as well as to hire lawyers for the bail of their detained leaders.
Monirul Islam, chief of CTTC unit said members of the main JMB are now trying to come to limelight by resuming activities as they are inspired by the recent attacks carried out by a new faction of the banned militant outfit.
“They recently appointed a former JMB member Majlish-e-Sura Salauddin alias Salehin as the new chief to regroup the outfit to proceed with such violence,” Monirul added.
Salauddin who is hiding in West Bengal recently visited Bangladesh to give directions to the militants and went back into hiding.
