Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon yesterday inaugurated the opening flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The return airfare in the route has been offered Tk9,999 (including all taxes) as a promotional price.
Novoair will operate four flights a week: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
The departure from Dhaka will be at 2:25pm and arrival in Kolkata at 3pm (local time).
The departure time from Kolkata will be at 4pm (local time) and arrival in Dhaka at 5:35pm (local time).
The Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman Air Vice Marshal Ehsanul Gani Choudhury and Novoair Managing Director Mofizur Rahman were present at the inaugural ceremony.
Rashed Khan Menon hoped the Novoair flights to Kolkata will further improve the connectivity between the two neighbouring countries.
Novoair is also going to operate direct flights to Kolkata from Chittagong from 14 December. Promotional return airfare for the Chittagong-Kolkata route has been fixed at Tk11,555 (including all taxes).
In the route, there will be three flights a week: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
The departure time from Chittagong will be 2:50pm and arrival time in Kolkata is 3:35pm (local time). The departure time from Kolkata is 4:20pm (local time) and arrival in Chittagong is at 6:05pm.
