A video has been making rounds on social media recently. It is about gauging people’s response to transgendered people doing what many of us consider a veritable norm – dining out.
The spontaneous response we see in the video should be how we all behave, stand up for those who others would try to oppress.
Each and every person has equal rights. There is no reason we cannot co-exist. Transgendered people are neither detrimental nor pariahs, they are just as fundamental to society as you and me.
We have no right, to deny another person of their right. The Dhaka Tribune thanks Robi for conveying this message in such an uplifting manner.
What person would not feel the urge to confront the “person who would deny the transgendered people have iftar in a restaurant” while watching the video?
We ask you to stand up, wherever you see oppression. Speak up for the meek and the timid. Let us be proud and glad to be Bangladeshis.
