President Abdul Hamid to welcome Maldives President Solih at airport

He will attend the National Parade Ground function with President Hamid

President Abdul Hamid will welcome Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih when he arrives in Dhaka on Wednesday to attend celebrations of Bangladesh's golden jubilee of independence and birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 

A 10-day special programme will begin at the National Parade Ground from March 17 marking the two occasions. 

"President Abdul Hamid will receive his Maldivian counterpart at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:20am on Wednesday," President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told the reporters on Tuesday. 

He said President Solih will also attend the National Parade Ground function at Tejgaon with President Hamid at 4:30pm on Wednesday. 

The Maldivian President, as part of his three-day Bangladesh visit, will pay a courtesy call on President Hamid at Credential Hall of the Bangabhaban at 7pm on Thursday and also sign the visitors' book at Bangabhaban and witness the signing of some Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) between the two countries, the press secretary added. 

Later, he will join a dinner and cultural program hosted by his Bangladesh counterpart at Durbar Hall ground of Bangabhaban. 

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will arrive in Dhaka on a two-day visit from March 19. 

Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari will be in Dhaka on a two-day tour from March 22 and Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering is scheduled to visit Bangladesh from March 23-25. 

Besides, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Dhaka on March 26.
