In late 2020, Hoichoi announced the web series adaptation of popular 2015 Bangladeshi thriller 'Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Ashen Ni’ by the acclaimed Indian-Bengali director Srijit Mukherji.
The cast of the much-anticipated series includes Rahul Bose, Azmari Haque Badhon, Anirban Bhattacharya, Anjan Dutt, and Anirban Chakrabarti in key roles.
Previously, the director regretted having to change the original Bangladeshi cast for the pandemic. Actors Chanchal Chowdhury, Fazlur Rahman Babu and Tariq Anam Khan had to be replaced when the shooting couldn't take place in Bangladesh.
Indian actors Anirban Bhattacharya, Rahul Bose, Anirban Chakrabarti and Anjan Dutt joined the new lineup alongside Bangladeshi actor Azmeri Haque Badhon.
Badhon, one of the most popular actors of Bangladesh is playing Muskan Zuberi, the seductive owner of a mysterious restaurant, around which the series is set to revolve.
On May 26, Srijit wrote on Facebook that he had “finally finished reviewing #REKKA with dubbing and BGM.” He went on to praise Badhon’s performance and slammed ‘cynics’ who questioned her casting.
“Can only say I doff my hat to your dedication, Azmeri Haque. Fighting off inhuman shooting conditions, countless cynics who questioned your selection and immensely demanding schedules, you have provided the winning edge to the mysterious femme fatale Mushkan Zuberi and made me very proud!”
The web series is set to premiere on Hoichoi in 2021.
