An injured Bangladeshi construction worker, who was stranded on a crane 40 metres high, has been rescued by an elite rescue team in Singapore.
The incident took place at a construction site in How Sun Drive at 4:25pm on Monday, reports The Straits Times.
The 46-year-old Bangladeshi man injured himself while working on a tower crane and was unable to head back down to safety.
When alerted to the incident, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) sent in a team of firefighters and members of its elite division, the Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (Dart), to rescue the worker.
Arriving at the scene, four Dart specialists climbed a ladder to access the crane, before crossing its narrow arm to reach the injured man, SCDF said on Facebook on Tuesday.
After securing themselves in place, the team members set up a lowering system with ropes and pulleys.
One of the specialists, who was cross-trained as an emergency medical technician, treated and bandaged the man's wound while up on the crane.
With help from another team of Dart specialists on the ground, a stretcher was hoisted up to where the injured man was. After securing him safely to it, the injured man was slowly lowered to the ground.
After assessing his injuries, the Bangladeshi was taken to Sengkang General Hospital for further treatment.
The Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) is investigating the incident.
