At least 26 people were killed and 22 wounded in an attack by two suicide bombers on Wednesday night against guests at a wedding in a village north of Tikrit in central Iraq, a police source said on Thursday.
The attackers stormed the wedding party in Hajjaj village, 15km north of Tikrit, capital of Saladin province, the police said. Among the dead was the groom, the source added.
The police and pro-government militias reinforced security measures in the area, while authorities declared a curfew.
No terror group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, though the Islamic State terror organisation has carried out numerous attacks in the region.
