A Bangladeshi expatriate and his son died of Covid-19 in New York on Saturday where the deadly virus has already claimed over 36,000 lives.
Engineer Khairuzzaman and his son Abul Bashar Panna, hailing from the Halishahar area in Chittagong, lost their lives to coronavirus within a span of three hours.
They used to live in Brooklyn, located in the state of New York, said Subhasish Barua, a journalist in the US.
With these, a total of seven Bangladeshis died in New York in a week and all of them hailed from Chittagong.
The US has recorded 17,649, 057 cases with 316,144 deaths, the highest figures in the world, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The United States reached a record of nearly a quarter million coronavirus cases reported in 24 hours. An additional 2,814 people died nationwide, pushing the death toll to more than 313,000, reports UNB citing AP.
A total of 76.2 million people have been infected globally and 1,684,816 have died, according to the JHU.
