Modi tweets welcoming Sheikh Hasina

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a tweet, expressed his delight after receiving his visiting counterpart from Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, at Indian Air Force Palam Station in New Delhi on Friday. In a tweet, he wrote: Delighted to welcome H.E. Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, on her State Visit to India.”

In another tweet, he wrote that Hasina and he were determined to take the relationship between the two nations to a new level.

This is Hasina’s first visit to India after PM Modi took office in May, 2014. The visit, which has been postponed twice before, comes seven years after Hasina’s last state visit to India in January 2010 and almost two years after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh in June 2015. During this trip, Bangladesh and India may sign around 35 deals and MoUs on trade and commerce, economy and connectivity.
