The Election Commission of India announced the schedule for assembly elections to three northeastern Indian states - Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland - on Thursday.
While polling for assembly elections in Tripura will be held on February 18, Nagaland and Meghalaya will go to polls on February 27. Counting for all three states will be held on 3 March.
The terms of Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura end on March 6, 13 and 14 respectively. The strength of the three states is 60 members each.
Election commission said the model code of conduct came into force in the three poll-bound states from Thursday. The number of polling stations of these states are 3214 (Tripura), 3082 (Meghalaya) and 2187 (Nagaland).
The schedule has been announced by the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Achal Kumar Jyoti at New Delhi’s Nirvachan Sadan.
