The Southern Naval Command of the Indian Navy ordered an inquiry into the incident
Two officers belonging to the Indian Navy (IN) died on Sunday morning after their glider crashed in the southern state of Kerala, confirmed an IN official source in New Delhi.
The glider carrying the two naval officers crashed near the Thoppumpady Bridge in Kochi district of the state soon after take-off from the INS Garuda ship on a routine training sortie, the Navy said in a statement. The glider crashed at around 7:00am, local time.
The identities of the two naval officers have been established, and they were declared dead by doctors at the INHS Sanjivani hospital.
