The advertisement states – Rs55,000 (Tk62,900) for murder, and Rs10,000 (Tk11,440) for assault

When you think you have seen it all! A Muzaffarnagar-based gang has published an advertisement with rates for their “services,” which include murder and assault.

In the advertisement, a young man is seen brandishing a gun alongside with the rates for hits or assault, along with a contact number.

The man uploaded the photos on the social media and is seen holding a pistol. He posted a rate chart of the "services" that the group provides.

The young man is reportedly a resident of Chowkada village under Charathaval police station area of Muzaffarnagar.

The advertisement was uploaded on social media which went viral, reports India’s Zee Business.

The services provided were – beating, injuring, threatening, and even murder.

According to the advertisement, the hired contract would charge Rs55000 (Tk62,900) for killing a person, Rs5000 (Tk5,720) for beating up without somehow injuring them seriously, for which there’s a separate charge – Rs10,000 (Tk11,440), which would probably require hospitalization.

The advertisement further said that services would also be provided for “occupying land.”

It also boasted of having its own arms along with the country-made pistols.

According to a media report, the police swung into action as soon as the post went viral. They have already identified the youth, National Herald reported.

According to National Herald, local police were already investigating the matter, quoting an official. The official assured of appropriate action.

The reasons behind the high crime rate in western Uttar Pradesh are hidden in history and the lush sugarcane fields dotting the countryside, reports Hindustan Times.

“Till a few years ago criminals would stop your car and rob you. This was western UP," HT quoted Kairana police station’s Inspector Bhagwat Singh as saying.

This is the sugar belt of northern India, with more than 50 factories and the oldest from the early 1900s.

In the early years, the wealthy factory owners hired local contractors to run the plants, thereby spawning the "contract" system. “The contractors hired local musclemen to run the factories. They created their turf and this led to turf battles. And this led to crimes,” reported HT citing additional superintendent of police Ranvijay Singh.

According to police records, the Meerut zone has at least 517 gangs, having 2,470 criminals collectively, said a Hindustan TImes report of 2018.

Their clout runs from the industrial areas of Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida to the villages of Saharanpur, Shamli and Muzaffarnagar.

Several gangs such as the ones headed by Sunder Bhati and Mukeem Kala have a multi-state reach.

These crime syndicates are involved in extortion, kidnapping, contract killing and robbery — from Uttar Pradesh to New Delhi to Haryana.
