Two girls hailing from Myanmar were also rescued from their clutches

A Bangladeshi national and two Rohingyas have been arrested in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) for their alleged involvement in human trafficking into the country.

The gang members are Mohammed Noor, also the mastermind, and his aides-- Rehmatullah, and Shabiullah, reports the Times of India.

This comes amid the horrific incident of a gang rape and torture of a Bangladeshi woman in Bengaluru in late May. The victim was tricked into going there from Bangladesh in the name of TikTok shoot.

The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the UP police booked the trio from the Ghaziabad area and also rescued two girls belonging to Myanmar, aged 16 and 18, from their clutches on Tuesday.

“Noor is a Bangladeshi and the gang leadaer, while Rehmatullah and Shabiullah are  Rohingyas. They were involved in human trafficking, gold smuggling and helping other refugees including women and children sneak into India through various channels,” said Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar.

Noor, he said, used to lure women from Myanmar on pretext of marriage and men on pretext f jobs.

Later, they sneaked via Bangladesh illegally into India and got them jobs in factories.

“Also prepared their fake certificates of Indian identity while the women were trafficked,” added Kumar.

ATS Inspector General of Police Gajendra Kumar Goswamy said that based on electronic surveillance, they tracked the gang members along with the two girls in Ghaziabad railway station.

They were going to Delhi via Brahmaputra Mail.

“We arrested three and rescued the two girls who were sent to Asha Jyoti Kendra in Lucknow. We question them later,” said Goswamy.

Mentionable, 12 people including 11 Bangladeshis were charged over the Bengaluru gang rape early this month.

The gruesome event also caused Bangladeshi authorities to start a massive crackdown on human traffickers since late May.
